HydroComp, Inc. was established in 1984 to provide software and services to naval architects, shipbuilders, and propeller manufacturers. HydroComp is the developer of a software suite that includes: NavCad, PropElements, PropCad, and PropExpert.
NavCad is for the prediction and analysis of vessel speed and power performance. It also provides for the selection of suitable propulsion system components – engines, gears, and propellers. NavCad can be used for the design and analysis of virtually any type of monohull or catamaran – from large displacement vessels to fast planing craft.
PropElements is software for detailed propeller design and analysis. It provides the ability to capture the performance of a propeller “on-the-hull” with HydroComp’s unique wake-adapted propeller design codes. Analyze existing performance for a given geometry, or let PropElements solve for optimum distributions of pitch and camber.
PropCad is software for the geometric modeling of marine propellers. It provides tools for the automatic preparation of 2D design drawings, 3D views, construction data, calculation of geometric properties, and CAD/CAM file export.
PropExpert is a propeller selection tool for the sizing and analysis of propellers for workboats and pleasure craft. It provides the tools needed for the proper selection of propulsion system components – engine, gear, and propeller – and is the principal sizing tool of manufacturers and distributors.
